Big Bluestem

This grass can grow up to 9 feet tall but usually reaches 3-6 feet in height.  It gets its name from the bluish-purple hue that develops on the stalks in late summer.  The seedpods of this plant are splayed out which gives the grass its nickname, turkey foot grass.
