Prairie Dog

Prairie dogs are an important short grass prairie animal.  They provide a source of food for many larger predators such as the Ferruginous Hawk, and the Bullsnake.  Prairie dogs also create and maintain habitat for many smaller animals such as the Burrowing Owl and the Black-footed ferret.
